The process at a glance
Six simple steps. Steps 1–2 are preparation. Steps 3–6 happen in the online form.
1
Before you start
Choose your submission type and check the word limit
There are three submission types, each with its own word limit for the abstract text. The limit applies to the abstract body only (not the title, keywords or author names) and is enforced by the form.
Submission types and their word limits
| Type | Word limit |
| Oral communication | 180 words |
| Poster | 180 words |
| Symposium | 500 words |
The form shows a live word counter while you type, and will not accept text over the limit.

Before you start
Write and structure your abstract text
Write your abstract in a single block of text (no headings are required, but you may use short lead-in words). We recommend covering these elements, in this order:
1 · BackgroundThe context and the problem or need your work addresses. One or two sentences.
2 · AimsWhat the work set out to do — the objective or research question.
3 · MethodsHow it was done: design, participants, setting, analysis. Brief but specific.
4 · ResultsThe main findings or outcomes. For work in progress, describe expected results.
5 · ConclusionsWhat it means for the field — implications for practice, policy or research.
Order mattersPresent the information in the same order as in the work itself: aims → method → results → conclusions.
Format and style
- Self-contained: the abstract must be understandable without reading the full work.
- Objective tone: factual language, no value judgements; short, precise sentences.
- Concrete results: give the key quantitative or qualitative findings where possible, not just "results will be discussed".
- Avoid: non-standard abbreviations, bibliographic references, and excessive methodological detail.
Submitting a symposium? A symposium groups 4 communications around a common theme, with a coordinator who submits the abstract, acts as contact with the organisers and orders the session. Within the single 500-word text, include: (a) a joint presentation explaining the common thread and how the 4 contributions relate, and (b) a brief entry for each communication — its title and 2–3 sentences covering aims, method and key findings. The coordinator goes first in the author list (corresponding author); list the contributing authors after.
🔒 Keep the text anonymous. Review is double-blind: reviewers see the title, text and keywords, but never the author fields. Do not include author names, institutions or other identifying details in the title or abstract text — write "our previous study" rather than naming your team or centre.

Open the form and fill in title, type and category
Go to abstracts.eciconference2027.com/submit.php — no login is needed. Enter your title (max 250 characters), select the submission type, and choose the thematic category that best fits your work:
T1 Families, participation and natural environments
T2 Equity, rights and social inclusion
T3 Quality, evidence and transdisciplinary practice
T4 Innovation, technology and system transformation
T5 Professional wellbeing, leadership and sustainability
The category determines which reviewers evaluate your abstract, and thematic fit is one of the review criteria — so choose the closest match carefully.

Paste your abstract and add keywords
Paste (or type) your abstract text into the Abstract field. A live word counter shows how many words you have used against your type's limit.
Then add keywords, separated by commas — at least one is required; 4–6 are recommended. Choose terms that make your work easy to find and index.
Abstract & keywords
Abstract
[your text] 172 / 180 words
Keywords
early intervention, family, inclusion

Add authors and complete the declarations
List all authors in order. For each one, give the name, affiliation and email.
- The first author is the corresponding author and must provide a valid email address — that is where the confirmation and the final decision will be sent.
- Funding (optional): state funding sources, if any. This appears in the conference proceedings/journal.
- Competing interests (required): declare any conflicts of interest. If there are none, simply write "None".
- Tick the box to accept the privacy notice.
✉️ Double-check the corresponding author's email before submitting — a typo here means the confirmation and decision emails will never reach you.

Submit and save your reference number
Select "Submit abstract". You will see a confirmation screen with your unique reference number (e.g. ABS-0042), and the corresponding author will receive a confirmation email:
Confirmation email
Subject:
Abstract received — ABS-0042
From: ECI Conference Madrid 2027
Thank you for your submission… Reference:
ABS-0042
📬 Important: check your SPAM / junk folder. The confirmation email is sent within minutes, but some email providers file it as spam. If you don't see it in your inbox, look in your spam or junk folder first — and mark it as "not spam" so you don't miss the decision email later. If it isn't there either after a few hours, contact us (see below) quoting your abstract title.
✓ That's it. Keep your reference number (ABS-NNNN) — quote it in any correspondence with the organising team.
What happens after you submit
Your abstract enters double-blind peer review: at least two members of the Scientific Committee, experts in your chosen category, evaluate it without seeing any author information. They score six criteria: relevance, originality, methodological rigour, clarity, practical utility and thematic fit.
The organising committee then makes the final accept / reject decision based on the combined scores, and notifies the corresponding author by email. You do not need to do anything in the meantime.
If your poster is accepted: design tips
These recommendations apply to the physical poster you will prepare for the conference, not to the abstract you submit now.
- Keep the title short and engaging — ideally no more than 15 words. Include authors and full institutional affiliation.
- Show only the essentials: a very brief introduction with the problem and objective, a summarised method (a diagram helps), the results as the main part of the poster, and short, clear conclusions (numbered if useful).
- Little text, many visuals: use tables, figures, charts and diagrams instead of paragraphs wherever possible.
- Readable from a distance: large, legible type; organise the content top-to-bottom and left-to-right.
- Simple background, strong contrast: avoid saturating the poster with colours, shadows or decorative effects.
Quick checklist before you submit
- Title is clear and under 250 characters, with no author or institution names.
- Abstract text is within the word limit (180 or 500) and covers background, aims, methods, results and conclusions.
- No identifying information in the title or abstract text (double-blind review).
- Category (T1–T5) genuinely matches the content.
- 4–6 keywords, separated by commas.
- Objective tone, short sentences, self-contained; no non-standard abbreviations or references.
- Symposium only: joint presentation (common thread) + a brief entry for each of the 4 communications, coordinator listed first.
- All authors listed; corresponding author's email is correct.
- Competing interests declared (write "None" if none) and funding stated if applicable.
- After submitting: confirmation email received — spam folder checked — and reference number saved.
♿ Accessible by design. This platform conforms to WCAG 2.1 level AA: full keyboard operation, visible focus, sufficient colour contrast, screen-reader-friendly labels and touch targets of at least 44 px. The form also works without JavaScript. If you hit any accessibility barrier, email us and we will fix it.
Frequently asked questions
I didn't receive the confirmation email.
Check your spam or junk folder first — look for the subject "Abstract received — ABS-…". Most "missing" confirmations are there. If it isn't, verify you typed the corresponding author's email correctly; if you suspect a typo, contact us quoting the abstract title and we will fix it. Mark the email as "not spam" so the decision email reaches your inbox later.
Can I edit my abstract after submitting?
The form does not allow self-service edits. If you need to correct something, email the organising team quoting your reference number (ABS-NNNN) as soon as possible — changes are only possible before review begins.
Can I submit more than one abstract?
Yes. Each submission gets its own reference number and its own confirmation email.
Do I need to create an account?
No. The submission form is public — you only fill it in and submit. Accounts exist only for reviewers and administrators.
What does "double-blind" mean for me?
Reviewers never see your name, affiliation or email — only the title, abstract text and keywords. That is why you must not include identifying details in the title or text.
What happens if I go over the word limit?
The form will not accept the submission and will tell you how many words you have used. Shorten the text to 180 words (oral / poster) or 500 words (symposium) and submit again — nothing you typed is lost.
When and how will I hear the decision?
The corresponding author is notified by email after the review period closes and the committee has decided. The decision email may also land in spam — keep an eye on that folder.
Can I withdraw my abstract?
Yes. Email the organising team quoting your reference number and we will withdraw it.
